New England Forest Rally 2007 PDF Print E-mail
This years newly renamed New England Forest Rally was marked with a diminished field of competitors, with just 38 cars entering, but the competition was still fierce, and the brutal roads of Maine and New Hampshire were a challenge for rookies and veterans alike.
Matt Iorio and the Paladin team aimed at keeping their necks intact for the first two stages, stating at parc expose that they did not intend to repeat last years attempted rocket launch into orbit.
The team's slower stages times on the short Mexico rec stages were offset by stage 3, as the team rocketed back to take 4th on stage.  Matt and Ole continued to stay with the top of the pack, ending day one in the top 5.
Day two didn't see the Paladin team letting up, taking 3rd on stage 9, further securing their position as fourth overall for the rest of the event.  The suspense didn't let up after all the stage miles were complete however, as an overheating problem forced Paladin girl DPii to the side of the road during the transit to the finish, endangering their 4th place finish with a possible DNF.
Fortunately, there are no enemies in this sport, and in a display of rally camaraderie, the #5 Jack Daniels car driven by Andrew Pinker pulled over and offered Iorio a tow to the finish.  Patrick Moro completed the tow to the finish when Pinker had continue on solo for fear of running out of fuel.
