Moving on to the next three stages (all run on the same road), Matt chose a tire that turned out to be the wrong choice. Running on harder compounds, he couldn’t find the grip he wanted, and at service, changed to a soft compound. The difference again allowed for strong consistent runs. Matt improved on his second run, and was looking to improve on the final pass when spectators disrupted his run. Although being forced off line, Matt recovered quickly and tied the time of his first run.
