Tall Pines - 2005/11/16 07:33 Tall pines draws near. Dannii is close to being prepared, Though her engine is very tired, and the oil smells like racegas. That car is being pushed beyond what should be expected out of a rallycar. Ben Slocum will be crewing. He's been under Phil's wing. It will be a nice change to have a couple of guys who have had time to choreograph some parts of a service.

The conditions at Pines are unpredictable, it can be anything from technical gravel, to slick mud, to trecherous ice. But it is always a very difficult rally.

This year there is a notes familiarization run, which will make it much easier to trust the notes that are provided.

I'm really looking foward to getting back in the driver's seat. it feels like it's been an age.

Re:Tall Pines - 2005/11/18 13:50 Matt, cant wait to see how you will do against all that stiff competition, it should be exciting and im sure you will do really well! Be sure to find us at the service area RIGHT when it opens and we can service together, we have a huge rig this time that even has a tire mounter and heat!!

Re:Tall Pines - 2005/11/21 08:09 Awsome. it's always fun to service as a convoy. I won't need the tire changer, I consulted my psycic. She read my cards and told me what the weather will be so I'm all set.

As far as heat goes, I don't want to spoil the crew, so they arn't alowed to go into the warmth. they can stand by the window an look at you being warm though.

Re:Tall Pines - 2005/11/25 17:27 Eric, to answer your question, a rally puts about a years normal use worth of use on a car.

Ok, let me tell you how My Thanksgiving went. I woke up at 6:30, packed, watched some cartoons, and left around 7:30.

I'd decided to travel through up I89 and through Montreal instead of crossing the boarder at Cornwall like normal. The traffic was terrible. It must have added 2 hours to my trip. There was a 10 car pileup on 40 and traffic must have been backed up for that many miles. The only up side came as a very cute female police officer clipped my mirror while driving to the accident. Something in french, and a friendly wave, and she was off.

Afer driving all day, I arrived in Bancroft through the setting sun. I first made my wat to the lodge where we are staying, figureing I've make camp before figguring out where registration was.

The lodge was easy to find, and I was happy with mission one accomplished. Then I went to Registration (as a side note, I'd thoulght my day was a lot more humorous, or atleast a little interesting but reading back it pretty clearly was not. The littile episodes of things being closed when I got there might be funny if someone else told the story but I'm just not pulling it off. To save time I'll just bullit form the rest of the story to save both of us time. I'm sincerily sorry that you've read this far. )

Registration was closed, to open again at 6

The Poutine at the Dixi Lee was just not the authentic stuff

Canadian tire closed at 6, I was 15 minutes late

The car wash was closed

I was a complete scatterbrain at registration

I was going to write this storry yesterday but hte internet cafe closed at 7, even though the sign saID OPEN LATE.

The no frills supermarket apparently conciter bags a frill, so I had to carry my griceries out in a cardboard box.

It's cold

I've got some sort of flue and it's making me more whiney than normal.

Well thank god I'm done with this self indulgant piece of crap, maskeraiding as a update. Keep tuned for more badly written junk to waste your time and

Re:Tall Pines - 2005/11/28 11:26 Congrats Matt and Ole! You guys looked great! Sadly I know this as I was sidelined on SS5 when we rolled....the car isnt too bad and we will be back and turbo'd for Perce Neige! We were only 4 spots behind you at first service, we were happy!
Everytime I saw you guys you were going well and looked great, congrats on your 2nd place! Well deserved!

Re:Tall Pines - 2005/11/30 00:06 I would just like to say that for my first Rally it was fricken amazing. Are you sure about the interent shop. My grandpa lives in Bancroft and I cannot see the ever advancing computer industry making its way up there yet. Anyways, I would just like to say thanks to everybody at Paladin Rally for making our weekend (Muffy's and mine). It was our first rally experience ever and volunteering made it that much better. We had no clue what was going on with the stickers and timing stuff. Oh ya, I did learn one thing..... never, never, never, stand with your girlfriend and point at a car with the driver and co-driver in it. They get really freaked out. Matt, I think you know what I am talking about. Anyways, we are already planning how to catch every possible rally and I am dreaming of getting a car seeing as how muffy wont let me touch her WRX. I dont blame her. Anyways, congrats on the finish and good luck with Danii on the 8th.
