Spark plugs - 2005/10/26 16:29 I'm pretty sure my spark plugs were misfiring at LSPR. I'm using NGK R7433-9 . I've pulled 2 of them, which is tricky, but made easier with an engine hoist. Anyway, they look used, but not terrible. A consistent black soot Anyone have some advice on what to look for in a fouled sparkplug?

Re:Spark plugs - 2005/10/26 20:13 ask it in a firm but compassionate tone, "Are you ok, little plug?"

Re:Spark plugs - 2005/11/01 07:41 This is what I'm dealing with. It looks like the gap has been growing, I think because the electrode ehas been melting

Re:Spark plugs - 2005/11/05 06:33 I beleive black means you are jsut running rich. Not surprising given the ALS and all...When did you last replace them?

Re:Spark plugs - 2005/11/05 11:16 I think the engine was last rebuilt after Sno* Drift. it's been running all season, so 10 or so events have been put on it. I swapped the plugs with new ones, comparing the two side by side, it looks like the electrode on the old ones melted, increasing the gap.

I just thoulght a little bit, and could'nt the richness be a result of the misfireing? It's good to know what blackened blugs mean

Re:Spark plugs - 2005/11/06 18:28 For sure a misfire will soot up your polugs as you will not be properly burning all the fuel and the soot will accumualte from incomplete combustion. Good thought, when were you misfiring?

10 rallies sounds like a lot for those plugs to go through, I dont know for sure but it sounds like too many. esecially if the electrodes melted! lol

Re:Spark plugs - 2005/11/07 07:47 I really only noticed the misfire on Delaware. We chanve the plugs every rebuild, and the rebuild schedual is 6 events. Unfortunalty I was hopeing to be running Kylie ,and rebuilding Dannii, but sometimes plans change.
