So you want a Tank...GTA3 - 2005/10/08 13:06
I've heard you can use some of the cheat codes for Grand theft Auto 3 (I play on ps2) to get a six star warrent level, then clear you're warrent level, then snatch a tank from an unsuspecting national gaurdsman. I've never bothered to track down the cheat codes, but I've developed a surefire method to get yourself that tank. This method is based on manipulating flaws in the game design, but it uses no cheat codes.
First, make sure you have progressed the game to Shoreside Vale, so you actually can get six stars. Before you start this, you'll want to pick up body armor, possibly a "lady of the night" to get that 25 extra health, something to destroy atleast 3 helicopters. The rocket launcher works best, but it's very expensive, the assoult rifle takes a little longer, but aslong as you find cover to shoot the helicopter from, it's more cost effective. You'll also need A gun that auto targets, and whatever else lights you're fancy. I prefer the sniper rifle and some gernades.
Go to Stauton Island. Make sure you have roon in youre gerage for a very large vehicle.
Go to the multistory car park in Newport, I think it is, you know the one. it next to the Spray shop, and it has the jump on top.
Position yourself on that jump. You'll have good view of the corner. Now start killing people. This is why I like the sniper rifle. You shoot someone, then, when people gather around the body to stare, you chuck a gernade in the middle of them, Keep killing untill you get 3 stars and the helicopter shows up. Knock it down. If you only have a Assoult rifle (the one you can aim Bond style) you'll want to hide underneath the top floor, at the ramp up, where you can get a clean shot, but the helicopter can't shoot back. You've capitalized on two flaws in the game design. The glaring one is that Security forces can't find their way up the parking garage to get you. The second one is that the helicopter won't position itself to get a clean shot at you if you are below the top deck. If you have a Rocket launcher, try not to blow yourself up when you shoot the Helicopter.
When a heicopter goes down, it really pisses off the cops, you're bound to get a star. carry on this way untill you have 6 stars. As long as you're not walking around the bottom floor, noone will come in after you.
When you have 6 stars, get in a car and go to the bottom floor. Noone should come after you yet.
Carefully crash the gate, poke your nose out, and look to your right and left. As soon as soneone starts coming for you (a Barracks OL or Tank) back up, and get the hell out of the way. if you're lucky it will be a Rhino. If it's a Barracks OL, drive back up to a higher level, and the bottom level will reset itself.
Repeat poking your nose out untill a Tank follows you in. Don't let touch you or your car, your car will explode instantly. Run up to the second level, and hide on or near the ramp. if you position yourself correctly, and you're lucky, the National Gaurd will abandon the Tank and come after you on foot. They are pissed, so be carefull when shooting them. This is the least scientific part of the whole thing, so you might have to play with the nasty pissed off tank for a while to get the guys to come out.
After they are dead, climb aboard your newly aquired piece of armor. Don't get cocky. Drive up to a middle level and make sure you're hardware is in good condition. If it it, take a deep breath and get ready for the hard part. You have to get the tank to your garage. You'll want to drive on the street. Don't take the shortcut through the shopping center. You're biggest threat is getting Busted. As soon as you leave the garage you'll be swarmed by tanks, if you are blocked and stopped, it's only a matter of time untill youre busted. Thats why you want to stick to only wide streets. Drive directly to your hideout. Don't run anyone over, don't play. Be carefull making turns you won't want to back up. Drive into your hideout's garage, make sure youre in far enough for the door to close. Exit the tank, and try to make it to the save point. As long as the garage door closes, your good. When the tank is safley parked, you will still have 6 stars. the quickest wat to get rid of them is to get wasted. See who you can take with you. I didn't make it 5 feet. Well, I hope this helps someone. Use this as a rough guideline, and you'll be driving your Rhino in no time.
